Qatar delivers funds to combat organised crime


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar has delivered the second instalment of its contribution to the financing of the Global Programme on the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, which is being carried out over five years (2016-2022) in co-operation between Qatar and the United Nations.
Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar's ambassador to Austria and its permanent representative to UN and international organisations in Vienna, delivered the second tranche of Qatar's contribution during a meeting with John Brandolino, Director of Division for Treaty Affairs of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna.
The Global Programme on the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, funded by Qatar for the sake of peace and development in the world, aims at strengthening the capacities of states, especially developing countries, to combat organised crime and related drug crimes, terrorism and corruption.

Sri Lankan FM meets Qatar's ambassador
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Ravi Karunanayake has met Qatar's ambassador to Sri Lanka Rashid bin Shafie al-Marri in Colombo.
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations and ways of supporting and developing them, in addition to issues of common concern.

Shura Council team leaves for Rabat
Speaker of the Advisory (Shura) Council, HE Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi, and his accompanying delegation, left Doha yesterday for Rabat, Morocco, to take part in the 25th Emergency Conference of Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) to be held there today.
The conference will review latest developments in the Arab region and discuss the grave situation in the occupied territories including the Israeli violations against the Holy City of Jerusalem and the worshippers by denying them access to Al-Haram Al-Sharif.

Qatar-Myanmar ties reviewed
The Federal Minister of the Office of the State Counselor and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Ju Ten Soy, met Qatar's ambassador Hassan bin Mohamed Rafi al-Emadi in yesterday. Talks during the meeting dealt with means of enhancing bilateral relations.
