Pakistan- Oil Tankers Association call off strike after successful talks with OGRA


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) ISLAMABAD, 26 July: The All Pakistan Oil Tankers Association (APOTA) on Wednesday called off its three-day long strike following the successful negotiations with the federal government.
"Government has accepted our demands and promised to solve all issues of drivers and oil tankers association," APOTA Chief Executive Suleman Tareen said while talking to reporters. He announced to resume supply of oil and petrol in the country.
The APOTA went on to strike for an indefinite period on last Monday after an impasse erupted over safety regulations imposed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) following the Bahawalpur tragedy.
At least 190 people were killed in Bahawalpur oil tanker explosion which on June 25.
Today, APOTA called off the strike and stated that supply of oil and petrol would be resumed by 4 pm. He said that negotiations between Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and APOTA were successful. He said that accident of the Bahawalpur was due to the people heedlessness.
