Kollonawa tense, Parliament erupts over fuel issue

A tense situation arose in Kollonawa today as trade unions attempted to prevent the military and police from carrying out the distribution of fuel with the assistance of some petroleum employees.

Meanwhile Parliament was also suspended after a heated exchange took place between the Government and the Police on the strike by petroleum trade unions.

The Army said that 15 bowsers had been dispatched from Kollonawa with the assistance of troops to distribute fuel to fuel stations.
