I love what I do and the students I work with. A lot of my students face challenges in and outside of the class due to the fact that our school is considered a low income school. 100% of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the fact that they face challenges, my students are always so positive.

All of my students have different things that they are working on and I have to switch up my strategies to help meet their needs. Often times I wear different "hats" because my students not only have academic needs, they also have emotional needs. I may be a little bias, but I feel like I have the best students!

My Project

Reading is something that we do everyday in my class. I would like to have a reading area where my students have the option to sit on the floor, sit on a comfy bean bag chair, or a regular chair if they prefer. Having options for my students really makes them more willing to do what is asked of them.

Who doesn't like to get comfy while they read?

My thinking is if they are comfortable while they are reading, then they will want to read more. They need to be reading as much as they can in order to help them get closer to grade level. Since I teach special education, that is my goal.

I not only want them to be reading more but I want them to develop a love and passion for reading.
