Oman- MoT continues developing tourism services, infrastructure in Dhofar

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) continues its endeavour to maintain, develop and upgrade tourism services in the Dhofar governorate during the khareef season.

One of the most important services being provided for visitors and tourists to Salalah this year is self-cleaning toilets that have been installed at a number of tourist attractions in the governorate, stated a press release.

In paying significant attention to enhancing environmental tourism the ministry wants to ensure tourists and visitors enjoy an ideal experience in all aspects on their visit to the Dhofar region, while also ensuring that they keep the tourist attractions clean and hygienic.

In the first phase, ten self-cleaning toilets have been installed in different locations such as Al Saadah walkway, Al Haffa Souq, Al Salam Street, the Fish Market, Al Ribat Street, and Salalah Tourism Festival parking lots.

The toilets have automatic doors that can be set for a certain opening and closing time, with the standard timing being 15 minutes. An Italian company has designed and maintains the operation of the toilets using the latest technology.

Another health and sanitation facility provided by the ministry in the Dhofar governorate is the temporary mobile toilet. Such toilets have been installed at several locations across the region.

The ministry has also worked on developing Al Dahareez beach which is a popular destination for visitors and tourists, by adding a number of services in order to meet the expectations of the growing number of visitors.

Set near the sandy beach and surrounded by the coconut trees, the ministry has recently constructed a park that attracts citizens as well as visitors.

Not just this, the ministry is also working on adding two open as well as shaded yards for events, social celebrations and BBQ gatherings, a walkway along the beach, new toilets, parking lots, and a washing area near the beach. The place is to be designed by Golden Triangle Engineering Consultancy and will be built to reflect an Omani ambience.
