Oman- Salalah Port appoints Andrew Dawes as new chief executive


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Salalah Port Services Co, which operates and manages Port of Salalah, has appointed Andrew Dawes as the new chief executive officer of the company effective from August 1.

The company announced the appointment of the new CEO in a filing to the Muscat Securities Market on Tuesday. Dawes has extensive experience in a wide range of terminal operational functions with several global terminal operators over 20 years, Salalah Port said.

Dawes has held senior management positions and developed expertise in management and port operations with different organisations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, it said.

Earlier in May this year Salalah Port announced the resignation of David Gledhill as the CEO of the company as he is taking over a different role in APM Terminals. The board of directors of Salalah Port had accepted Gledhill's resignation.
Salalah Port recently announced its initial financial results for the six month period ended June 30, of 2017 when it reported a 88.7 per cent decline in net profit.

The company's net profit fell to RO303,000 in the first half of 2017 compared to a net profit of RO2.67mn in the same period of the previous year.
Salalah Port's total revenue dropped 7.8 per cent to RO25.82mn from RO28mn in the first half of 2016.
