Renowned Chinese artist expresses solidarity with Qatar

Leading contemporary Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has expressed solidarity with Qatar and expressed concern at the ongoing Gulf crisis, which has entered the 50th day .
"Stand with Qatar. Today is the 50th day that the nation is under siege," renowned Chinese artist Ai tweeted under the hashtag #fiftydayssincethesiege yesterday.


Ai is a Chinese contemporary artist and activist, who lives in Beijing. He
is active in sculpture, installation, architecture, curating, photography, film, and social, political and cultural activities. Ai collaborated with Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron as the artistic consultant on the Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Olympics.
He visited Qatar in April this year. A large public audience was present at the Museum of Islamic Art to hear a public talk he delivered during his Doha visit.
