(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, July 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Monday handed over USD 500,000 financial aid to Jordanian charity societies, active in humanitarian and relief work.
Talking to KUNA, Kuwait's Ambassador to Jordan Dr. Hamad Al-Duaij said that the Kuwaiti donors are keen on providing further support to the Jordanian societies and commissions, especially for helping the Syrian refugees in the Kingdom.
He added that the embassy follows up how the money is spent through field presence, and reports provided by the relevant bodies.
Today's money includes USD 134,000 from the Kuwaiti Society of the Revival of Islamic Heritage to support the programs of the Jordan's Takaful (Solidarity) Association and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).
Also, Kuwait's Society for Social Reform (Al-Rahma International Charity) provided USD 333,000 to implement a portion of the activities of its office in Jordan, as the Zakat House offered USD 28,000 for supporting the Jordanian Club for Deaf.
Director of the Takaful Association in Al-Ramtha, northwest, Khalid Nawasara, said that today's money is part of Kuwait's aid to support the humanitarian conditions of the Syrian refugees in Jordan.
It will go to the medial center the association runs, for the benefit of 6,000 refugees.
For his part, head of the Society for Social Reform office in Jordan, Basil Shahada voiced gratitude to the Kuwaiti government and people for their regular backing to their activities in the Jordan.
Secretary of the deaf club Sherin Hussein, commended the decision approving to include the facility as a beneficiary of the Kuwaiti aid.
This will help promote the club's many activities and programs, she said. (end) mjb.ms
