Environmental Science Inspired By Tom's Of Maine

(MENAFNEditorial) iCrowdNewswire - Jul 23, 2017 Environmental Science Inspired By Tom's Of MaineMy students need four Chromebooks to have access to technology in order to research environmental science projects inspired by Tom's of Maine. My Students

Close your eyes and imagine a classroom full of laughter, excitement, and fun. Now take this same classroom and see 22 eager, confident, and full of life second graders who have a pure joy for school and all it has to offer. Notice their smiling faces and the way their eyes light up during conversations. Notice the teamwork and the high fives that are happening all over the classroom. They know that they are strong, independent thinkers who can accomplish anything they work for.

I teach at a Title-1 school where my students have limited access to technology. My students also come from economically disadvantaged households, and many don't have access to technology at home. Despite these challenges, they have a strong curiosity for science exploration and environmental science and how they can make a positive change for our environment.

My Project

My students will use these four HP Chromebooks to look up information on environmental science projects of their choice. This will be a hands-on way to teach about green projects that serve to better the environment in which they live. My students will explore areas such as: Can plants stop soil erosion? Do storm drains keep the oceans trash free? What would happen if all the trees were cut down? How long does trash last?

My students will be researching information related to recycling, stewardship, conservation, and environmental awareness.

They will take the information learned from the research to conduct science experiments that will give them a better understanding of their environment. Students will document the work they are doing in their Chomebooks by creating a PowerPoint using data charts, graphs, fact sheets and pictures of their experiments. Once each group is completed with their project, we will have an environmental science fair where they can teach others about how to conserve the environment.

By providing my students with Chromebooks, they will have the resources needed to learn how to better take care of the environment in which they live.
