Qatar's Tijan and Cesar go down in Agadir beach volleyball final
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar beach volleyball team, comprising Ahmed Tijan and Julio Cesar, finished runners-up in the 2017 Beach Volleyball World Tour event in Agadir, Morocco, yesterday. Tijan-Cesar lost to the French duo of Youssef Krou and Quincy Aye 2-0 (21-18, 21-14) in the final yesterday. For their spot in yesterday's final, the Qataris had defeated Iran's Bahman Salemiinjehboroun and Rahman Raoufi 2-1 (21-13, 17-21, 15-11). The Qatari duo reached the last-four stage after they defeated Switzerland's Mirco Gerson and Michiel Zandbergen 2-1.

Qatar national basketball team lost 54-62 to US in the final match of the 3rd Atlas Basketball Challenge in Suzhou, in the suburbs of Shanghai, China, yesterday. Qatari player Abdulrahman Saad grabbed the tournament's rising star title. The 14-member Qatari team's participation in the tournament was part of Qatar's preparation for the Asian Cup which will be held in Beirut from August 8 to 20, with the participation of 16 teams. Qatar was drawn in group B of the tournament along with Iraq, Chine and the Philippines. Group A includes Syria, Jordan, Iran and India, while the group C has Lebanon, New Zealand, South Korea and Kazakhstan. The last group D includes Australia, Japan Taiwan and Hong Kong.
