(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) DHAKA : Department of Banking and Insurance, University of Dhaka (DU), in collaboration with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has launched the Master of Tax Management program .
Earlier, the degree started as the Diploma in Tax Management . But, following the rising demand and at the request from NBR, the department decided to redesign the program and convert it into a Masters program, endorsed by the academic council of the university.
Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka Professor Dr. A A M S Arefin Siddique and Dean of the faculty of Business Studies, Professor Shibli Rubayatul-Ul-Islam along with Chairman of NBR Dr. Md. Nojibur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Tax Lawyer's Association(BTLA) and Dhaka Taxes Bar association and Secretary General of BTLA were present at the program, held today, July 23 at the Department of Banking and Insurance of DU.
Arefin Siddique in his speech praised the effort of the department and hoped that it will educate people and the professionals to develop a scientific and easy tax management system in Bangladesh.
'This program would add value in developing a tax friendly culture and skilled human resources in Bangladesh.', said Nojibur Rahman .
Shibli Rubayatul-Ul-Islam emphasized the importance of education in Tax Management for building a self-dependent nation, as it will help manage country's tax revenue in an effective manner.
Professor Md. Abu Taleb, Chairman ,Department of Banking and Insurance in his speech hoped that the newly introduced program will help create a tax friendly culture in Bangladesh and will play an important role in taking Bangladesh to the level of a middle-income country in near future.
