SHARJAH, 23rd July, 2017 (WAM) -- Talal Al Rumaidhi, Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti Writers Association, praised the initiative of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to establish poetry centres in the Arab region.
He made this statement while visiting, along with a Kuwaiti delegation, a poetry centre in Luxor after participating in a cultural seminar, titled, "The Cultural Egyptian – Kuwaiti Relations," as part of activities in the city of Luxor, the capital of Arabic culture.
Al Rumaidhi highlighted the aspirations of his association to establish links with the poetry centre in Luxor by arranging visits from Kuwaiti poets and writers, especially young talents, as well as visits to other poetry centres in the Arab region.
Dr. Ayed Ateeq, Professor of Modern History at Kuwait University, praised the leading cultural role of Sharjah in enriching the Arab cultural scene and supporting all regional cultural activities.
Dr. Hatem Rabie, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Culture in Egypt, expressed his happiness and pride over what he saw at the poetry centre and praised the generous initiatives of the Sharjah Ruler.
The delegation toured the poetry centre and expressed their admiration for its large library, which contains publications from the Sharjah Culture Department, as well as many traditional and modern books that were donated by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture authorities and by visiting poets and intellectuals.
