Palestinian martyred, 57 others wounded in clashes with Israeli forces

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, July 22 (KUNA) -- A Palestinian man on Saturday was shot dead by the Israeli forces in the town of Al-Eizariya in the central occupied West Bank district of Jerusalem, said Palestinian health Ministry.

The ministry identified the victim as 24-year-old Yousif Kashur from the town of Abu Dis just north of al-Eizariya.

Meanwhile, Palestine Red Crescent said at least 57 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with the Israeli occupation forces in the region of Lions' Gate in Jerusalem following Maghrib prayer.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli police was deployed intensively near the Lions' Gate, adding that the police attacked worshippers with live bullets, tear gas and sound bombs. In an unprecedented step, Israel shut down Al-Aqsa Mosque a week ago in front of Muslim worshipers during Friday prayers and reopened it on Sunday after installing electronic gates on its entrances.

The move came after three Palestinians and two Israelis had been killed in clashes on July 14. (end) nq.rh.hm
