Morocco- Policeman Uses Gun to Stop Gang of Thieves in Rabat

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat - A police officer fired five bullets using his service revolver in order to stop four suspects arrested on suspicion of theft Saturday morning, according to the Maghreb News Agency (MAP).

The same source added that the suspects arrested have an extensive criminal record and belong to a criminal gang specializing in robbery. The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) reported that the gang threatened their victims with the use of arms and actual violence.

The DGSN added that the gang was involved in several robbery operations. The initial investigation targeting the suspects made it possible to identify their location.

The criminals were caught in a lightly-coloured car near Mabella, a neighborhood of Rabat. The policeman fired his service revolver when the suspects refused to comply with his orders and attempted to flee the scene. He fired four warning shots, while the fifth hit the defendants' car.

Afterward, police searched the inside of the car where they found a knife and an iron bar in addition to other stolen items.

The defendants were placed in custody by the police in order to conduct the necessary investigations.
