Saudia launches low cost carrier

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) DHAKA : Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has announced the setting up of a new low cost carrier, known as Flyadeal, which is expected to start operating shortly.

Director-general of Saudia Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser announced on Twitter that the new airline would aim to deliver 'value for money to cost-conscious customers'

Flyadeal will offer a single class low fare and high density seating configuration 'focusing on getting people from A to B for a fair price', Al Jasser said in tweets from the airline's new Twitter account @flyadeal.

It will aim to serve the main trunk routes across the kingdom, including to the capital Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, as well as key regional markets, and the head office will be located in Jeddah.

Al Jasser said: 'A low cost fare does not mean low service so we will be world class in our focus of giving customers the best service possible.'

Last June, Saudia ordered 50 passenger planes from Airbus at the Paris Air Show with a total value of around $8 billion.
