A 53-year-old Macau man surnamed Choi, a part-time construction worker, had been tracked for two months and flagged as a suspected drug dealer who visited mainland China more than 20 times to importing methamphetamine into the special administrative region, Macao Daily News reported on Thursday, citing a police source.

At 8:30am on Tuesday, Choi returned to Macau from the mainland once again via Portas do Cerco, the police noted. By 11am, he had visited two apartments in a residential building in Rua do Tarrafeiro, where he was believed to have distributed methamphetamine to buyers.

Police then arrested Choi and seized 64.9 grams of suspected methamphetamine from his home at Areia Preta.

According to a Jornal do Cidadao report, one of two Vietnamese men coming out of one of the apartments that Choi visited injured two policemen during their arrest. Another one was allegedly found carrying 1.16 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Two Vietnamese men and a Vietnamese woman were arrested in another apartment in the same building, where 2.42 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with some tools for packaging and for taking illegal drugs, was seized.

Preliminary investigation indicated that Choi had purchased 50 grams of methamphetamine for 15,000 yuan (US$2,200), and then resold the drugs for 500 patacas per gram to two Vietnamese men.
