(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Dubai Municipality has launched drone technology to help developers survey lands and build new projects.
The drone provides real estate companies, consultants and contractors with detailed data of rectified orthophotos, topographic maps with up to 200 times better clarity than the maps by conventional surveys.
The 3D points for large-scale projects is provided to show rocky geographic and vast spaces, using 88 per cent less time than traditional surveys.
Eng. Dawood Al Hajeri, assistant director general of DM for engineering and planning sector, said this technology will help keep up with Dubai's quick development.
"Conventional maps and imaging took up to six months to extract its information. The drones now release the high-res images and maps on the same day."
He said that the drone helped with many of the Municipality's internal projects, such as Dubai Safari Park, and will be used to help other developers across the emirate.
Developers can now register for the service via the municipality's website and will pay a service fee depending on the service they ask for whether contour maps or topographic maps.
An app, called Kharetati (my map) will also enable developers to request access to land maps without having to attend dubai municipality's headquarters. The app will save 75 per cent of transaction time.
