(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, July 20 (KUNA) -- The White House expressed concern Wednesday regarding "tensions" surrounding the Temple Mount/Haram Al Sharif.
The US called upon Israel and Jordan to "make a good faith effort to reduce tensions and to find a solution that assures public safety and the security of the site and maintains the status quo," said a White House statement. The US will continue to closely monitor the developments, it added.
Violence broke out between Muslim worshipers and police for the third night in a row on Tuesday. Israel placed metal detectors at entrances to the location following a previous attack in the area. (end) ak.hb
