Egypt inks 1.5mn euros protocol to enhance Egyptian cotton


(MENAFN) Egypt inked a protocol in order to enhance Egyptian cotton to regional and global markets in collaboration with United Nations Industrial Development Org and the Italian Development Co-op at 1.5mn euros.

Accordingly, the textile industry is important to the national economy, which contributes 3 percent to the GDP, employs almost one third of the industrial labor manpower.

Additionally, the project's duration is almost two years and involves the qualification of 400 cotton farmers on the sustainable agricultural practices of organic cotton.

Moreover, the project aims to enhance the economic performance of projects working in the field of manufacturing long-staple cotton, involving small and medium enterprises.
