Portugal to place USD2bln of treasury bills

(MENAFN) The Portuguese Treasury and Debt Management Agency (IGCP) reported that the country had placed 1.75bln euros (USD2bln) in 6 and 12 months treasury bills at average yields which were more negative than the previous comparable auctions.

The government had place 1.25bln euros in 12-months bills at an average yield of -0.259%, in opposition to -0.153% in the similar auction on May 17th.

Accordingly, the demand for 12-months bills was 1.7 times of the amount placed while that for the six-month bills 2.77 times the amount placed.

However, the IGCP is planning to raise 4.5bln euros through treasury bills auctions between July and the end of next September.
