EU imposes sanctions against 16 more Syrians over chemical attacks


(MENAFN) The EU imposed sanctions against 16 more high-ranking military Syrian officials and scientists over chemical weapons attacks on civilians.

Furthermore, the move by the bloc's foreign ministers brings to 255 people faces a travel ban and an assets freeze over President al-Assad violent crackdown on civilians.

Meanwhile, Syria is subject to an oil embargo, restrictions on certain investments, and a freeze of the assets of the Syrian central bank held in the EU.

In addition, it also is under sanctions on equipment and tech that might be used for global repression as well as on equipment and tech for the monitoring or telephone communications.
