A man who was apparently planning to jump to his death off the Tsing Ma Bridge in Tsing Yi, New Territories, was rescued by police on Tuesday.
At 4am, the , an ethnic Indian aged around 50, got in a taxi at Clague Garden Estate in Tsuen Wan and told the driver to go to Hong Kong International Airport. While the taxi was traveling along Tsang Ma Bridge and was about 500 meters from the entrance, the man claimed he needed to urinate and asked the driver to stop, hk01 news website reported.

The man left a HK$500 (US$64) note and his mobile phone, got out of the taxi, climbed over the fence and stood on the curb.
Concerned, the taxi driver called the police. Officers from the police emergency unit, a high-angle rescue team and a fireboat from the Fire Services Department were deployed.
After learning the man was apparently drunk and felt depressed because of work pressure, a senior police inspector asked him to give up his dangerous action as "life is precious", Oriental Daily reported.
After 30 minutes, the man came down from the curb and was sent to hospital without injury.
