Minister of State for Defence Affairs H E Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah said that Qatar may approach International Court of Justice (ICJ) and ask compensation for damages caused due to blockade imposed on Qatar by siege countries since June 5. During interview with TRT World, a Turkish news channel, he added that 'Qatar faces the same situation which Nicaragua faced in the eighties and went to the International Court of Justice and succeeded in getting compensation,.
He also added that Qatar and US has historical and strategic relations, and it fights with US against terrorism. He was surprised to see that UAE was trying to transfer the US base from Qatar. About the demand to close the Turkish base, he said this demand is rejected and all the siege countries know about this since long time. It is the decision between two sovereign countries.
Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti cabinet in its session yesterday reviewed the latest developments of the Kuwaiti efforts to resolve the Gulf crisis. Following the meeting, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah said that he briefed the Cabinet on the results of the recent visits by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, UK National Security Advisor Mark Sedwill , and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian to Kuwait, during which they discussed the latest developments concerning the Gulf dispute and ways to resolve it, Kuwait news agency Kuna reported.
