Indonesia rejects return of nationals with IS ties from Syria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUALALAMPUR, July 17 (KUNA) -- Indonesian authorities have rejected the return of citizens suspected of having joined the so-called Islamic State (IS) group in Syria.

Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said Monday, following the arrest of Indonesian citizens in Syria for their participation in the IS group, that other in similar circumstances should stay in Syria.

On the other hand, the Indonesian Ministry of Communications partially blocked the web version of messaging application, Telegram, claiming the application's privacy features compromise national security. Indonesia has witnessed a number of suicide bombings linked with the IS group in recent months that killed dozens of people.
