Prices of Medications for Common Chronic Diseases Drop by 65% in Morocco

(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Rabat - Medication prices for several common chronic diseases have been reduced in price by 65 percent, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health on Sunday.

The ministry added that 75 drugs to treat illnesses including heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure and infectious and nervous system diseases will be slashed in a bid to ease the cost of living pressure in Morocco.

Since the issuance of decree No. 2.13.852 on the pricing of pharmaceutical drugs in 2013, the ministry has been able to reduce the prices of more than 3,600 medications.

The ministry also expressed its gratitude to pharmaceutical laboratories, pharmacies and drugs distributors, saying that "the success of this reform has been made as result of the contribution of medical professionals from pharmaceutical laboratories and drugs distributors."

The health department also added that the National Drug Policy aims to encourage the local pharmaceutical industry to ensure fair access to medications and treatments for all Moroccans.
