Oman's demand for water increases coming 25 years


(MENAFN) The National Center for Statistic and Information (NCSI) reported that large demand for water is increasing in Muscat and expected to continue growth for 25 years, to reach 3.6 million gallons of additional water reserves.

The report says: "A total additional reserve requirement estimated for the governorate (Muscat) regarding water and electricity for domestic consumption is 3.6 million gallons of water, and 20,000 gigawatts/hour of electricity, in order to sustain the current domestic consumption rate."

project director of the Environment Society for Oman confirmed that everyone is responsible for conserving water, and she added: "Given that freshwater is a scarce resource, Omani citizens should do their best to use water efficiently."
