Qatar's youth handball team finalise preparation for Sweden match

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar's youth national handball team held their first training session in Algeria yesterday, ahead of their tomorrow's match against Sweden in the U-21 World Cup, which will run till July 30.
Qatar is in Group B along with Sweden, France, Denmark, Egypt, and Slovenia. Group A includes Germany, Norway, Faroe Islands, Hungary, South Korea, and Chile, while Group C comprises Spain, Tunisia, Macedonia, Burkina Faso, and Russia. Group D includes Croatia, Iceland, hosts Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, and Morocco.
Qatar's second match will take place on July 19 against Slovenia. Two days later they face Denmark, before taking on France the very next day. Their final group game is against Egypt on July 24. Qatar needs to earn one of the top four spots to reach the second round.
Coach Valero Rivera focused on the tactical aspects of the game during the session, working on addressing some of the mistakes the players committed in recent friendly matches against Spain, Tunisia, and Macedonia.
Director of the youth national team, Adel Yaqub, said the team prepared well for the competition, despite falling in the death group. He highlighted that there were four different playing schools just in this group that will face one another — Swedish, Danish, French, and Slovenian schools. He, however, stressed that the Qatari team is highly motivated to do well in the competition.
