A number of human rights organisations have warned against the prolonged continuation of blockade against Qatar due to violations of rights of citizens in the siege countries.
Recently, The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor in a press release expressed its concern that the continuation of the blockade from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE against Qatar would increase sufferings of families of citizens in siege countries.
It also said that the steps which are taken against Qatar and its citizens seemed to be planned for longer duration, and the continuation of blockade against Doha carried many risks.
In the beginning of the crisis, The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor issued a human rights report on the impact of the crisis on residents and their rights.
Among the most important violations registered by the Qatar National Human Rights Committee were in family reunification, work, education, religious practices, health, movements and residency.
'The decision by Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to sever ties with Qatar will deeply and negatively affect residents in all of these countries, including their access to education, right to property ownership and freedom of expression, said the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor in the report.
It also added in the report that 'Cutting ties with Qatar also has had a direct effect on work and labour rights for thousands of employees and their families.
The Human Rights Watch said 'the blockade imposed by the three gulf countries is infringing on the right to free expression, separating families, and interrupting medical care among other rights violations.
Also, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) said that the siege countries violated the basic principles of human rights. It also welcomed establishing of the Compensation Claims Committee to receive the people's complaints.
From last week, the Compensation Claims Committee has received more than 600 requests for case registration from people affected by the current blockade of Qatar, in addition to more than 200 inquiry calls.
