(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) ISLAMABAD, 13 July: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif affirmed on Thursday that he would not resign from his office on the demands put forth by the opposition parties and lawyers' organisations.
The premier said this while addressing a hurriedly called cabinet meeting to take cabinet members into confidence after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in Panama case.
The prime minister termed the JIT report a pack of assumptions and speculations.
According to a statement issued by PML-N media cell after the federal cabinet meeting, Nawaz Sharif announced that he would not step down as the prime minister on demands put forth by a group of 'conspirators'.
The federal cabinet praised and backed the premier decision.
The Nawaz Sharif's remarks came in the backdrop of resignation demands by his main political rivals Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Peoples Party. All the major opposition parties demanding Nawaz Sharif in the backdrop of the JIT final report submitted to Supreme Court on July 10.
Moreover, Pakistan Bar Council, Lahore High Court Bar Association and Peshawar High Court Bar Association had also sought the premier to leave office following a damning set of revelations about business dealings of Sharif family.
