Arab information ministers vow to tackle terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 13 (KUNA) -- Arab ministers of information announced on Wednesday the importance of boosting their efforts and cooperation at the regional and international levels to encounter terrorism and eliminate its roots.

The Council of Arab Ministers of Communication and Information called on member states, at the end of their 48th session meeting, to stand in total solidarity with Egypt's efforts to counter terrorism.

They praised the victory of Iraq over the so called Islamic State (IS) in Mosul.

Arab media has played a great role in shedding light on the importance of this victory in the region's war against terrorism, they said.

The council called on the Arab State Broadcasting Union (ASBU) to execute its plan for audio-visual and electronic journalism workshops specialized in combatting terrorism.

It also called on members countries to increase programs and projects focused on supporting Palestinian rights in Jerusalem and enhancing the positive image of Arabs and Muslims abroad. (end) mfm.rq.rj.lb
