Saudi King, US chief diplomat discuss regional developments

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, July 12 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz discussed regional developments, particularly the fight against terrorism, with the visiting US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday.

The two officials also discussed bilateral relations, and means to boost them, according to state-run Saudi Press Agency, SPA.

Tillerson, who arrived earlier in the day, had held talks with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt regarding the quartet's dispute with Qatar.

The US chief diplomat's visit to Saudi Arabia follows stops in Qatar and Kuwait, which is mediating the crisis.

A day earlier in Doha, he signed an anti-terrorism funding agreement with Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani after having held talks with its Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

On Monday, he reiterated support of Kuwait's efforts during talks with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and British National Security Advisor Mark Sedwill in Kuwait. (pickup previous) sd
