Iraq, partners violate global law in Mosul

(MENAFN) Strategies used by Iraqi forces and their U.S.-led coalition allies in the battle for Mosul violated international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes.

Accordingly, the IS militant group has also violated humanitarian law by putting civilians in harm's way to shield their fighters and delay the advance of Iraqi and coalition troops.

Meanwhile, a 100.000-strong alliance of Iraqi government units, Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and Shia militias launched the offensive to retake the city in Oct.

Moreover, Iraqi forced and the coalition had carried out a number of unlawful attacks in west Mosul since Jan, depending on Improvised Rocket Assisted Munitions.
