OIC Secretary General, Palestinian FM discuss joint cooperation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, July 11 (KUNA) -- Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Yousef Al-Othaimeen discussed on Tuesday with the Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Riad Malki means of boosting cooperation in serving the Palestinian cause.

The OIC said in a press statement that the meeting came on the sidelines of the 44th session of OIC Foreign Ministers Council held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire's economic capital.

The statement quoted Al-Othaimeen as stressing the importance of exerting further efforts to encourage the global community to pressure Israel to abide by the international law, and to take practical measures to encounter the settlement policies.

On his part, Al-Malki praised OIC fruitful efforts in supporting the Palestinians in establishing an independent state of full sovereignty, with eastern Jerusalem as its capital, according to 1967 borders.

The meeting stressed the importance of uniting the positions of OIC member countries in supporting resolutions related to the Palestinian cause and its people rights in the international arenas. (end) nsa.lb
