India's Videsh to bid for gas fields development in Lebanon

(MENAFN) Indian energy firm ONGC Videsh will offer to explore and develop gas fields off the coast of Lebanon, as proclaimed India's oil minister.

Moreover, the bidding process for offshore blocks 1,4,8,9 and 10, three of which border Israeli waters, was delayed due to political paralysis in Lebanon.

Additionally, Lebanon, along with Cyprus, Israel and Egypt, sits on the Levant in the Mediterranean where gas fields have been explored since 2009.

Other firms prequalified to offer include Qatar Petroleum, Britain-based New Age African Global Energy and Iran's Petropars.
