Kuwait's Equate temporarily suspends production of Ethylene 2 Plant
KUWAIT, 10th July, 2017 (WAM) -- Kuwait's Equate Petrochemical Company announced Monday it has temporarily suspended work in its Ethylene 2 Plant due to a technical fault and the company is investigating all relevant details.
Equate President and CEO Mohamed Hussain said in statements quoted by Kuwait News Agency that the operations will comprehensively resume in the plant within two weeks, putting the safety of the staff as a top priority.
The plant produces 850,000 metric tonnes of Ethylene annually and the Equate Group is considered a global producer of petrochemicals and the world's second largest producer of Ethylene. It has industrial complexes in Kuwait, North America and Europe that annually produce over five million tonnes of Ethylene, EG, Polyethylene, and Polyethylene Terephthalate.
The products are marketed throughout Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East and Africa.
