Egypt asserts firm support to Egypt, its fight against terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, July 9 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry asserted Sunday on his country's unwavering commitment and support to Egypt and its fight to combat terrorism, as part of Egypt's efforts to end terrorism permanently from the region.

A statement from the foreign ministry noted that Shoukry remarks came during a telephone call with Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, after the triumph in various areas of Iraq, including the latest in Mosul city.

The statement added that the two ministers also discussed the latest developments in the region, and ways to boost cooperation between the two countries, including mutual coordination in the international arena.

The statement added that the Iraqi minister offered his condolences to Egypt over the killing of a number of soldiers and police officers in Sinai recently.

The statement noted that an arrangement for future political consultation between the two countries were talked about, in addition to issues regarding the joint higher committee. (end) rg.mb
