Delhi police booked three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on charges of assault after a woman alleged she was beaten by them during a recent Legislative Assembly session, according to media reports.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that on June 28, Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh physically assaulted her.

Her complaint read, 'I had gone to see the proceedings of the House, but could not get the pass for the Visitor's Gallery. And, while I was standing outside the building, a group of men, who were engaged in a scuffle, came towards me. They pushed and shoved me. I was later taken to a room and kicked.'

However, PTI reported that AAP leader Sanjay Singh dismissed the complaint, insisting that it was politically motivated. He was quoted as saying, 'This is vendetta politics by the [central government]. We are surprised that the police has arrested only 15 of our MLAs [since coming to power].'

Delhi police registered a case against the three MLAs based on the woman's complaint.
