The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) recently partnered with EdTechX Europe in London to present the start-up enterprises from the WISE Accelerator program. The annual EdTechX Europe conference brings together the international EdTech community to showcase innovations and perspectives from around the world. This edition of EdTechX Europe gathered over 125 speakers and 850 international investors, innovators, corporate leaders, educators and decision-makers.
WISE organised a panel discussion featuring the start-up leaders of the WISE Accelerator programme. The 30-minute session included short presentations from four leaders of the EdTech start-up projects that are supported by the WISE Accelerator programme. The founders shared their inspiring entrepreneurial journeys, highlighting their challenges and unique visions for education.
Among the presenters were Henry Motte-Munoz, founder of the Philippines-based Edukasyon; Tariq Fancy, founder of Learn Syria by the Rumie Initiative; William Zhou, founder, Chalk.com; Simon Bailey, founder of AFLATOUN; and Peter Mousaferiadis, founder of Joko's World.
Touhami Abi, WISE Program Officer, moderated the session. He said, 'The WISE Accelerator founder stories reflect the dedication and determination of these leaders, and their willingness to take risks and even to fail. Their stories show that passion is not enough to change the world. It must be accompanied by dedication, long working hours and the acceptance of failure as a key element in the learning curve.
The WISE Accelerator Program provides mentoring for promising new projects that have already shown good results in technology education, and aims at helping them progress to the next level with networking opportunities.
EdTechX attendees joined field trips across London, with behind-the-scenes interactive experiences at EdTech companies such as TES Global, Kano, Bloomberg Media, and University College London (UCL).
The EdTechX Europe conference featured distinguished speakers from leading education organisations, including Google, TES Global, Noodle, 2U, University of Oxford, Evernote, Volkswagen AG, Jisc, Tecnologico de Monterrey, UCL and Minerva Schools. In partnership with other leading education groups as co-chairs, EdTechXGlobal produced London EdTech Week, a week-long celebration showcasing the Now and Next of Education Technology.
Over 30 connected, collaborative events across London brought together more than 6,000 attendees from the local and global EdTech ecosystem.
