Jordan- Intense heatwave forecast to subside

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 5 (Petra)-- Temperatures forecast to gradually fall starting Wednesday and reaching their annual average over the weekend, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department(JMD).

A week-long heatwave has affected the country, with temperatures jumping to 38 degrees in the capital and hovering around forties in other parts of the Kingdom.

A slight drop in temperatures is forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, but they will remain 3-4 degrees above their annual average; therefore hot conditions will continue to prevail across much of the Kingdom, the JMD added .

Daytime temperatures expected for today in the capital and the northern cities will reach 35 degrees Celsius, jumping to 44 degrees in the Gulf of Aqaba. At night mercury levels will cool down reaching 23 degrees in Amman and sliding to 29 in Aqaba.

The heat wave will taper off on Friday bringing temperatures back around their seasonal average and bringing moderate conditions across much of the country, the JMD said. WH
