New industrial investment prospects to be revealed soon: Qatar Chamber

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) New investment opportunities in the industrial sector will be announced 'in the near future by the Coordinating Committee for Single Window System Management, an official of Qatar Chamber has said.
Speaking in the programme ‘Aswaq' aired over Qatar Radio yesterday, Qatar Chamber director general Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi said the committee, in which Qatar Chamber is a member, helped facilitate the issuance of industrial licences.
Al-Sharqi also pointed out that the Single Window Project helped encouraged businessmen and investors in the food sector and other industries to immediately address the needs of the local market.
'One of the positive impacts of the economic blockade imposed on Qatar is that the authorities concerned united their efforts to increase the dependence on local products and decrease importing from neighbouring countries. There is a great interest in expanding the local industry to meet demands of the domestic market and export surplus abroad, he stressed.
He also assured that 'the obstacles facing local industries are being tackled.
'In the past, Qatar was interested in supporting the presence of GCC products in the Qatari market. The siege imposed by Saudi Arabia and its allies provided a great opportunity for local products to expand and meet the needs of the local market, he said.
He also noted that local products are now able to compete and increase their presence in the market, adding that Qatar's factories are now increasing production 'with high-quality standards.
Al-Sharqi affirmed the chamber's support for the local products, noting that it is promoting Qatar's products during local and international events and exhibitions.
He said the siege countries 'have lost the Qatari market, and stressed that 'new plans will be released soon by authorities concerned, which will adopt initiatives aimed at expanding local production.
Al-Sharqi praised the cooperation between business owners and the chamber, citing the visit of a Qatari delegation to Oman last month where large-scale commercial deals were signed. He added that 'more visits to other countries will be announced later.
