London: Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti held a working session in London with a number of businessmen and investors. The meeting discussed the issue of free zones, especially Jebel Ali, where investors find it difficult to send through their goods to Qatar. Discussions also dealt with alternative solutions, especially that the products are not from the siege countries, but from the countries to which investors belong and from their own investments.
The meeting also discussed goods arrival and procedures followed, as investors explained that the use of free zones should not be subject to political whims, enquiring in this regard about the future of investments. The free zone adjacent to Hamad Port was also discussed as Qatar has proved its commitment to contracts and agreements even under the unjust siege, such as the deals and commitments related to the energy sector, as was stated by the Minister of Energy and Industry as well as the Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, in addition to all materials exported by Qatar. The investors and businessmen expressed confidence in Qatar Ports' commitment to maritime law in terms of entry and exit of all ships and refueling, as well as the right to resort to it in case of need and in emergency situations where no arbitrary measures were taken against international law, which proves Qatar's credibility and commitment.
