Pakistan- JI's protest movement for Fata reform from July 20

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Central Ameer Senator Sirjul Haq on Monday announced to launch a movement for merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and against Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR).

Addressing party workers here at his party secretariat, JI chief said that tribal people have been deprived of their rights since last 70 years.

He said the tribesmen were being faced with lawlessness, military operations, hospitals and schools were destroyed while trade centers were turned into ruins. He demanded compensation as well as reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure.

He said that general elections were around the corner and tribal people demand representation in provincial assemblies while the government has been keeping silence over the proposed reforms.

Sirajul Haq said that JI would launch protest movement from July 20 till August 20 of next for merger of tribal areas in K-P.

'As per plan, protests would be staged in every tehsil of the all tribal agencies where the issue would be raised on floor of the National Assembly as well as Senate,' he said.

He said that a long march would be organized in Islamabad for implementation of reforms where leaders of all political parties would be invited to participate in the march.

He hoped to receive a positive response from leadership of political parties. He demanded of the federal government to fulfill promises it made with the displaced families.

He said that JI would befriend all those who were against FCR, adding that government should fulfill its promises with tribal people regarding their rehabilitation.
