Filipino sent to hospital after Lan Kwai Fong fight

(MENAFN- Asia Times) An 18-year-old Filipino man who visited Lan Kwai Fong in Central for a drink with friends was sent to hospital after being injured during a fight among about 15 people early on Sunday.

The man, who sustained injuries to his head and arm during the incident, called the police at 3:27am, Apple Daily reported.

Shortly before this, two groups comprising about 15 men and women of different nationalities began fighting after quarreling in front of a bar in Lan Kwai Fong, according a Hong Kong man surnamed Mo who witnessed the incident.

People in each group chased, punched and kicked their opponents, and someone threw a plastic stool in the open area, Mo said. Some women were pushed to the ground, a video clip taken by Mo showed. The two groups then continued the fight inside the bar.

When the police arrived, most of the people who had participated in the fight had already fled. Police were investigating the case and hunting for four foreign men who were allegedly involved in the fight.

In Hong Kong, the maximum penalty for a person convicted of fighting in a public place is a fine of HK$5,000 (US$640) and a 12-month prison term.
