Samsung Heavy settles deal to build shuttle tankers


(MENAFN) Samsung Heavy Industries Co. confirmed it had settled a deal to build two shuttle oil tankers worth USD240mln.

The S. Korean shipbuilder settled the deal with AET, the Malaysian shipping firm MISC, as it will build two vessels by January 2020.

Also the company said in a filing that the shuttle tanker is designed to ship oil from an offshore oil field to a storage tank, and it is equipped with a variety of offloading equipment.

However, Samsung Heavy secured the deal valued at USD5.06bln so far to build 15 ships.
