Sanchez temporarily appointed Qatar national team coach


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Football Association (QFA) president Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani announced the temporary appointment of Spanish coach Felix Sanchez, head coach of Qatar's U23 team, as Qatar national team coach.
Uruguayan coach Jorge Fossati had resigned as head coach after Qatar beat South Korea 3-2 in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
In a statement yesterday, Sheikh Hamad said the national team will be managed by Sanchez in their two remaining 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Syria and China.
He added that there were other senior coaches being considered for selection and contract signing.


Qatar's Al Arabi beat Vietnam SC in Asian club volleyball

Qatar's Al Arabi started their last-eight stage campaign at the 2017 Asian Men's Club Volleyball Championship, with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-22) win over Vietnam Sports Club in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, yesterday. Arabi, who finished second in Group C in the preliminary round, will play Al Bahri SC of Iraq in their second match today.
