Oman bans all imports of asbestos goods


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Oman has banned the import of asbestos goods and products. H E Dr Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry has issued Ministerial Decision 139/2017 prohibiting the import of asbestos goods and products.

The issuance of this decision comes after the examination of several samples of goods and products by the Directorate General for Standardisation and Metrology in cooperation with the Public Authority for Consumer Protection.

The results of the examination showed that the samples did not comply with the standard specifications.

According to the decision, any individual who violates the provisions of this decision will be liable to an administrative fine of RO500 which can be doubled in case of repeated violations.
