'Saudi Arabia has highest number of rich people'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, July 1: Saudi Arabia tops in the Middle East and is 19th in the world in terms of the highest number of wealthiest people with per capita wealth of more than $30 million, as per a recent report concerning the wealthiest individuals in the world in 2016 released by the Wealth-X, the global authority on wealth intelligence, reports Al-Anba daily.

The report explained that Saudi Arabia has 2,640 people who fall into that category as of the end of 2016. Their total wealth is calculated at $427 billion. The United Arab Emirates follows in 28th place globally and 2nd in the Middle East with 1,120 wealthy people and total wealth of $272 billion.

However, the list that contains citizens of 30 countries did not include any wealthy Kuwaiti. The United States of America tops the global list of wealthiest persons with 73,100 people controlling a total of $8719 billion.

They cover 33 percent of the entire global wealthiest persons. The number of wealthiest persons in the world increased by 3.5 percent in 2016 with 226,450 persons compared to the previous year. Their total value of wealth has also increased by 1.5 percent to reach $27 trillion.
