BMW will build Mini electric car in Britain by September
(MENAFN) By the end of September, giant carmaker BMW confirmed it will start building its new electric Mini car in Britain or elsewhere, to examine if Britain still able to attract investments after Brexit.
As Mini contributes for 70% of 360,000 compact cars at its Oxford plant in Southern England, the auto industry is concerned over any losses could be made by leaving the EU, the largest exporter for its cars.
However, the German automaker is still deciding between English site, the plant in Netherlands and Germany plants at Leipzig and Regensburg.
The firm's board member for sales told press: "One of the elements is what the likelihood of a tax regime is and if there's a tax regime, how would it apply."
