Kiwi company Pictor appoints Howard Moore as Chief Executive Officer

(MENAFNEditorial) Friday, 30th June 2017:The New Zealand medical diagnostics company Pictor Ltd has appointed biotechnology and agri-tech entrepreneur Howard Moore as Chief Executive Officer. This comes at an opportune time given the expanding sales and marketing of Pictors products in the Indian market and an ongoing development program of new diagnostic products.
Pictor was founded in New Zealand by two Indian born and educated scientists; husband and wife Dr. Anand Kumble and Dr. Sarita Kumble. The companys establishment followed their highly credible careers in research and development in both the USA and New Zealand. Both scientists are highly recognised in the application of microarrays and multiplexing technologies for immune-diagnostics, which is the basis for Pictors patented Pict Array technology platform that can be used to diagnose multiple diseases from one drop of blood. The platform is distinctive in that it can be used in local laboratories or medical centres without significant capital investment, making it ideal for the Indian market.
As a director of the early Pictor investor Cure Kids Ventures, I am very familiar with Pictor; the progress that the Company has made and the exciting future opportunities, says Howard.
Howards career has been hallmarked by fund raising, commercialising technology, developing early stage companies, and sales and marketing. From his early career in the New Zealand dairy industry, Howard was a driving force in the investment of $150 million in agricultural biotechnology start-up Via Lactia. Howard and the late Professor Ross Clark were co-founders of Tercica, an Auckland start-up company which relocated to the USA, developed and had IGF-1 approved as a drug andachieved a listing for Tercica on NASDAQ. Howard was also Executive Director for Direct Capitals $100 million life sciences fund, Bio Pacific Ventures. Since 2011 Howard has been working in the dairy industry in China.
The Pictor board and founders recognised that Howard has the experience and track record to lead Pictor in the next phase of its growth.Anand has taken up the role of Chief Operating Officer and with Sarita as Chief Technology Officer, the three will form a very strong and complementary executive management team, says Pictor Chairman, Jim McLean.
India is a key market for Pictor so the company is committed to bring products that are "Made for India" to this Market. Earlier this year, Pictor appointed Amit Somani to set up and grow its India operations.
Howard, who took up the CEO position on June 12, is making his first trip to India as CEO of Pictor in July.
