Slovenian top legislator lauds Kuwait's regional, int'l roles


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Adelwaheb El-Gueyed LJUBLJANA, June 28 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait plays major roles within the regional and international scenes and this fact led to the Gulf country's election as a non-permanent member in the UNSC, said a top Slovenian legislator Tuesday.

After meeting with a visiting Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation, Milan Brglez, Speaker of the Slovenian National Assembly, told KUNA that Slovenia trusts that Kuwait will actively contribute to the promotion of peace and security globally, and will uphold the UN Charter.

Slovenia and Kuwait are both active members of the United Nations, supportive of preventive diplomacy, UN reform and the implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.

He revealed that Slovenia was eager to bolster relations with Kuwait on all possible domains, revealing that his country took several steps to facilitate cooperation with Kuwait and other GCC countries especially within the economic and commercial sectors.

He indicated that the current visit by the Kuwaiti delegation, headed by MP Dr. Jam'am Al-Herbish, would help push forward parliamentary ties.

"The delegation of the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Group to the Slovenian parliament in the last two years is very telling of the good relationship between our institutions. Nevertheless, while the intensity of our relations has recently evidently been growing, plenty of room remains for further strengthening of cooperation," said Brglez.

Asked about Slovenia willingness to participate in the (Kuwait 2035), the Speaker said that Slovenian companies and business were eager to invest in Kuwait and partake in the ambitious development plan of the GCC country.

"We see Kuwait as one of the most important partners in this respect. Particular attention will be paid to the field of development aid, where we have identified potential for cooperation of individual Kuwaiti and Slovenian funds and to the economic cooperation, including investments." "Slovenian companies (especially those active in the Gulf region) are aware of business opportunities knowing the exceptional development plans of Kuwait. Slovenian companies can contribute their share in high-tech solutions in different fields such as technological equipment for various constructional and industrial facilities, renewable and sustainable energy and top IT solutions. Slovenian companies could offer their experience in the field of environmental technologies and projects, in the field of civil engineering constructions, closer cooperation between the two countries in tourism, including health and spa tourism. The international reputation, abundant knowledge and extensive experience make Slovenian companies reliable and trustworthy business partners."
